Going through a breakup or letting go of a situationship? Here's how to get your sparkle back!

I know from messages on good ole insta, there are a lot of people currently:

πŸ‘‰ Going through a breakup

πŸ‘‰ Dealing with being ghosted

πŸ‘‰ Have just come out of a situationship, or are having to let go of someone, having  had great dates with lots of potential!

Regardless of where you are, breakups, or mini heartbreaks (the bloody papercuts of the dating world) can leave you feeling all sorts. Hopeless, empowered, sad, determined. You name it, you'll probably feel it.

But, as dire as the ending of something is, when you're ready and the time is right, you'll start to notice little glimmers of joy, light and hope. It's these glimmers we want to be following and leaning into, so you start to emerge, like the beaut butterfly you are.

In the meantime, here are 5 suggestions of how you can start to feel like you, and get your glow back after a breakup!

One - rediscover who you are! Within relationships, situationships or even just dating, it can be easy to lose yourself. So this is an amazing time to go back to the drawing board, asking yourself the big and small questions. What are your favourite crisps? Drinks? Sandwiches? What music do you like? What kind of holidays are your fave? What makes you, you?  What amazing qualities, resources and attributes do you have? What do you want for the future? What makes you happy?

Two - go cold turkey and cut off contact. You don't need to see their insta posts, and it doesn't make you uncool to block them from your sanity. Even the most cordial ending needs space to heal and move on, so put your needs first and block and delete. Alternatively, you need to also be respecting their need for no contact too.

Three - expand your world. Reconnect with old and new friends (if you've let this area of your life slip, then it's one to be aware of next time). Have fun, go on adventures, say yes to things you'd usually pass on, and get things in the diary you're excited for. We want to be making your world bigger again, and showing yourself there is light, hope and so much to come!

Four - do a self-esteem check (and get yourself on the waitlist for GLOW next year!) Chances are, the ending might have triggered crappy thoughts, fears or the future or rocked your confidence. OR, you might  in something a little bit toxic, which has chipped away at certain areas. Have a little check in how you're feeling, how you're talking to yourself, what thoughts are coming up, so we know where to start.

Five - how is the breakup going to help you move forward? Now let's be honest, this is one for when you're in the right frame of mind. But, we want to be looking at this is a source of learning and growth (I know, very coachy of me, but it will make you feel better). Ask yourself what have you learned and how will it help you next time? Has it changed the perception of what you need in a relationship?
