The Lesson That Turned My Love Life Around
So, they say that your deepest pain point and your greatest lesson is where you can have the most effect helping others, and oh boy is that true for me! My story wasn’t a happy go lucky fairytale filled with someone rolling in to rescue me. Plenty of drama, no knight in shining armour.
I used to spend hours crying to my sister, asking her "what was wrong with me" and “when would it happen” feeling dejected, unlovable and left out.
I made plans with friends to have babies together, not believing I'd meet someone who would want to build a family with me.
I’d watch friends meet serious boyfriends, get engaged and move in whilst I struggled to get past the month mark.
I put up with awful behaviour from love interests, holding on because it was rare to meet someone who I had more than a few dates with.
Love. Felt. Bloody. Hard.
And VERY far away.
Truthfully, nothing changed until I was ready to take a long hard look in the mirror and figure out what my blindspots were when it came to love. I had to take accountability for the patterns I was creating, how I treated people, how I was showing up, what I hadn’t yet dealt with for all those years. For me, this looked like:
❣️Figuring out why I was attracted to certain people
❣️Looking at why I swung between numbing out and anxious obsession, and learning to sit with how I felt
❣️Letting go of judgements, society’s expectations, and everything I’d been taught about love so far
❣️Lowering the walls and leaning in towards vulnerability (fooking scary)
❣️ Setting boundaries and learning to respect other people’s
Then came the second part, and arguably the biggest lesson.
It came in learning to trust that good things would happen for me. I had to create new feelings of hope, love and security inside of me. I had to trust in the timing of life. I had to trust my person was on their way. I had to date with intention AND intuition.
Because then I was able to let go. I was able to get excited. I was able to focus on becoming the happiest, healthiest version of me. And I learned a new way to approach love, which is something I teach all my clients.
And that’s the energy we want.
