Let’s talk about situtionships!
Do you frequesntly find yourself in an ‘almost’ relationship? Then you my love, are in what we call a ‘situationship’.
A situationship is a kind of one-sided relationship, where you are ‘kind of’ with someone. You’re with someone enough to meet their needs and desires. You hang out. You do couple things. But they’re not quite ‘ready’ for anything else.
In other words, they get the relationship THEY want without having to take responsibility for your needs, for what you want, as they don’t have to commit.
And it can be tortuous right? Because you live in the land of ‘almost’. They text you. They don’t. They open up. They shut down. They say they love being with you. They say they want to date other people. They say you’re the first woman they’ve met who understands them. They say they can’t trust women because of [insert excuse].
And the longer it continues the less you feel like ending it because of all the time you’ve invested.
You’re sure if you hang on just a bit longer, that they’ll change. But the longer you’re there, the more time you waste. The more you miss opportunities. The more you’re doing yourself a disservice.
So, the question we all want to know is why do we end up in a situationship?
Well, anything is better than nothing right? It fills the void of loneliness whilst you hope they change.
We aren’t dating with intention. We are trying to ‘go with the flow’ so we’re the ‘cool’ girl.
We’re desperate to be chosen. So much so that we don’t have boundaries or ask for what we want. We’re not sure we’re enough as we are, so are happy to try and be whatever the other person wants.
We’re subconsciously drawn to people who aren’t available because of our own romantic patternings and lack of availability.
